If you are a bodybuilder, you know someone who is or you follow the sport, then there’s one rule that you’re aware that everyone follows: they remove all of the hair off of their body. Although some may personally prefer it, the reality is that if anyone wants to enter into a bodybuilding competition, having no (visible) body hair is a requirement.
So, are you curious to know about the kind of hair removal techniques that some of the professionals use in order to keep their skin smooth and hair-free? If so, we have a list of some of the most popular ones below:
Shaving. Probably the most popular kind of hair removal is shaving. That’s because it’s both quick and easy. Plus, if you use something like an electric hair clipper, it can help to get hairs in some of your body’s hard to reach places. However, some people do not prefer going with this method simply because shaving only removes hair from the surface of the skin and does not get to the roots (which means you have to do it often).
Waxing. Another method that many try is waxing. That’s because it does pull hair from the roots, which means that you’ll end up having much longer results. You can get your body hair waxed at a local salon or spa or you can do it yourself at home with over-the-counter products. Two things to keep in mind with this treatment is that it costs more money and it can tend to be pretty painful (especially the first couple of visits).
Sugaring. An ancient Egyptian method of hair removal is one that is known as sugaring. If you mix two cups of white sugar with a ¼ cup of water and a ¼ cup of lemon and then boil the ingredients, it will turn into a wax-like substance. Once it cools a bit, you can then apply to the skin. Once it hardens, you can then peel it off of your skin. Although it’s also a fairly uncomfortable process, many people say that it’s considerably less painful than waxing.
Epilator. If you don’t want to wax, but shaving seems a bit too tedious for you, something else that you might want to think about doing is purchasing your own epilator. It is a device that acts like a trimmer but it actually pulls several hairs from the roots at once. The reasons why a lot of people like it is that it’s gentle, it lasts for about four weeks and it helps your hair to grow back finer with each use. (Epilator Central is one website that can provide you with more information.)
Laser Hair Removal. Are you searching for a hair removal method that is a bit more permanent? If so, then you might want to consider going with laser hair removal treatments. Although, over time, it can reduce the amount of your hair growth by as much as 80 percent, it’s not advised that all skin types or pigments undergo this particular process, so make sure to get a full consultation beforehand. But, if you are approved, a few treatments over several months (at about $150 per visit) can have your bodybuilding body smooth as a baby’s skin (and so worth the investment).
