Sometimes we find ourselves glancing up at the calendar, only to realize with a start that we’ve got an important event coming up just a few weeks down the road. Maybe for most this isn’t a horrible thing to realize – but sometimes this realization comes hand-in-hand with the awareness that you’re not really physically prepared for said event in the least. Maybe it’s a trip to the beach that you’ve planned out well in advance. Maybe it’s a whole Spring Break. Perhaps you’ve signed up for an intense softball game, and are nowhere near the physical condition that you’d like to be in. There are a ton of reasons that might find you needing to seriously whip yourself into shape in a relatively short amount of time, and each of them is potentially more stressful than the one that came before it.
It’s exactly this type of stressful situation that can lead to behaviors which cause us to pack on the pounds in the first place, so it’s important to make sure you stay calm when you realize that you’ve got a lot of trimming to do, and not a whole lot of time in which to do it. There are plenty of perfectly effective ways that you can get yourself looking at least a little more fit by the time that important date rolls around, and they won’t see you spending a fortune on a trip to the doctor’s office in the process. We’ll talk about how to get in shape fast so that you can look great for that important upcoming event.
One of the best ways to make sure you’re in great shape relatively soon is to simply add a bit of aerobic exercise to your daily routine, and make sure you stick with it. Attitude is everything, so if you can convince yourself that you are a lean, mean, staying-in-shape machine, you’ll have a much easier time getting your body to follow suit. Make sure you get an hour of aerobic exercise worked into each day — walking is a great way to do this because you don’t really need any training, and it’ll meet your needs at just about any fitness level.
Another great way to get yourself looking nice in a short amount of time is by drinking plenty of water and making sure you cut back on stuff like all that extra alcohol and caffeine that you don’t really need. Dehydration can lead to some serious food cravings, and if you keep yourself well-hydrated you won’t retain water and look quite so puffy. In addition to this, really beef up the amount of fruits, vegetables, and protein that you feed yourself. Abs are made in the kitchen; simply working out isn’t going to cut it if you don’t give yourself a similarly healthy diet.
Whether you’ve got a ton of red carpet dresses to try on, or an upcoming Spring Break to get ready for, there are plenty of reasons you might need to get in shape in a short amount of time. With these strategies in mind, you should be able to have a relatively easy time making yourself look great.
