Does anyone have a favorite exercise to strengthen the lower back; an exercise done without all the gadgets?
One of the best ways to start the day is to make a vise move before you get out of bed. Here is a simple stretch that will wake you up faster then a splash of cold water.
After you wake up, put yourself in back-lying position. First stretch your hands and feet as far apart as you can. Then, bent forward and bring your knees as near to your chest as possible, like you are hugging them; after that, “hug” each leg separately. SLOWLY, stretch your arms in the air and sit up, then lay back down – SLOWLY. Start with one stretch and add few more every morning. You’ll feel more flexible within a week. After you have achieved the stretching technique, exercise the abs; they are back’s best friend.
It is interesting how a good morning stretch can do wonders for you back. I recommend a good back- stretch almost every time you feel the need to. Not just after a good night sleep, but after few ours sitting in front of the computer or sitting in front of the TV. Back stretching is also an important warm up routine before running, weight lifting or any recreational activity.
